The Patrick "Patty" Turner
Memorial Scholarship Application

Honoring the legacy and character of Patrick “Patty” Turner, this scholarship will be awarded to graduating senior students in good standing who plan to attend a community college or trade school.   Patrick wished for more kindness and inclusivity in our schools and community, and those traits will be the focus of this application.

 

This scholarship will award recipients a $2,000 one-time award.

Eligibility:

 

Be a current high school student in good standing

​

Display strong character, kindness and inclusivity on campus and in the community

​

Applicants may self-nominate, or be nominated by a teacher or staff member

​

IF SELF-NOMINATING: Please write an essay (500 words or less) on the following topic: Describe an act of kindness that was shown to you, or that you showed to someone else, during your high school years. How did this experience impact you?  How do you think it affected the other person/persons involved?

IF SELF-NOMINATING: Please write a brief description (250 words or less) of the school you will attend, what you plan to study, and your career aspirations.

​

IF NOMINATED BY A TEACHER OR STAFF MEMBER: Please write an essay (500 words or less) on the following topic: Describe how the student has shown kindness and empathy on your school campus or in the community during his/her high school years.  How has this student positively affected those around him/her? Also, please attach a brief description of the student’s future education plans and career goals.
